Affiliate Marketing Tips – How to Set Up a Writer’s Website

March 1st, 2010 No comments

Whether you’re a seasoned writer or one just taking the first few steps into the freelance world, most editors nowadays expect you to have a website. With hundreds of companies offering hosting and templates for next to nothing, cost is no longer an issue when considering a website, and even somebody with no previous knowledge of HTML can set up a successful site in an hour or less.

Instructions

  1. Decide your needs in advance. Most writers will do well with a basic website to showcase their resume, writing experience and samples. Most writers will do well with 4 or 5 pages. If you plan on uploading lots of files, you should make sure that you get a website with enough space to allow for it without slowing down the loading.
  2. Learn what not to do. Certain things are considered a no-no in a professional website. These include music, animations, moving cursors and photos of family or pets. All these items distract from the original purpose of your website and are best reserved for personal blogs.
  3. Provide specific information. People visiting your website will want to know what type of writing you do (magazines, newspapers, web content), where you have been published before and if you won any awards. You will also need to provide links to articles published online with your byline or upload pdf samples of things originally published in print.
  4. Register a domain name with GoDaddy or DotEasy, two of the largest domain name registration companies out there. Companies usually run specials where you get free hosting when you register the name with them. Many also offer free templates so you can simply load your information into a pre-designed outline.
  5. Don’t forget to update your website regularly, as new publications come out. If all you have up there is from 2 years ago, editors may fear that you’re not as prolific as you claim to be.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have nothing published yet, it’s ok to include a few unpublished samples in your website. Otherwise, editors expect to see things that made it into print.
  • Make it easy to read. Online text should consist of short paragraphs and simple sentences. Trying to cramp too much information within a small space will just overwhelm the reader.
  • Unless you’re targeting a very specific type of publication, avoid including samples of articles on controversial topics on your website. This may turn off some editors and lose you potential clients.
  • Don’t go with free hosts. It looks unprofessional. Pay for your own domain name, even if it means waiting a little longer, until you can afford it.

Affiliate Marketing Tips – How to Make Youtube Poop

February 18th, 2010 No comments

Youtube Poop is a trend that is not going away in the Youtube community. From all the comedy channels in Youtube, Youtube Poop is by far the most popular category of all. Youtube poop is considered anything that uses nonsense material, and spontaneity is definitely the main focus of these Youtube videos. So, if you are wanting to make the best Youtube poop video, you may find your youtube video at the top rankings of the day, if not the month!

Instructions

  1. Register for the Youtube account, it is free and takes a couple minutes.
  2. Once registered, decide on what you want to use for the material of your youtube poop video. The most popular types of Youtube Poops are Flash videos, Music Videos, and Tennis Matches.
  3. Gather the video and audio material, and start to put it all together.
  4. Create a few sections of the youtube poop video solely for repeating sentences and messing with the audio. You can speed up and slow down the audio tempo anyway you want to, but be sure to keep this seldom, as youtube users and viewers will grow tired of your video, finding it to be unoriginal.
  5. Use one or two fads that are established in the youtube Poop community. This can be uing a cartoon, famous saying, or a specific image. Again, keep these fads to a minimum of three times per youtube poop video, as people will find it unoriginal if overdone.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are no rules to the Youtube Poop, so use your imagination!
  • Create as many Youtube Poops as possible in order
  • Always state in the information part of your video that you do not own the copyrights to anything you use, and be sure to give the appropriate credit to the rightful owners. Even more, state that the video is for parody, and entertainment purposes only.

Affiliate Marketing Tips – How to make “Strawberry Smoothie”

February 2nd, 2010 No comments

Summer is the season of citrus fruit and beautiful flowers. Strawberries are ripe and very famous in California. I have a tremendous desire to treat myself to a real fresh lemon/strawberry smoothie. This is how I made it.

Instructions

  1. Cut 2 strawberries into small pieces and 1 slice of lemon (about one section of a large lemon). Squeeze the lemon juice into the blender without the seeds
  2. Add 3 teaspoons of sugar, a half-pinch of salt, and 2 cups of drinking water.
  3. Put 2 cup of ice in the zip-lock bag and break into small pieces, put into blender.
  4. You make at home,..!Hit the ‘smoothie’ crème or ‘liquiefy’ button till its all blended smooth.
Pour in a glass, top with fresh mint leaves, or slice of lemon.

    Serves 2 people

Tips & Warnings

  • For those who have real lemon trees and pick their own fruit, you may want to use protective gloves and watch out for the lemon tree thorns. They can really be harmful to young children and grown ups too. Pick lemons very carefully.

Affiliate Marketing Tips – How to Make Money and Get Free Products from a Paid Online Surveys Panel

January 12th, 2010 No comments

My Survey is currently one of my favorite paid online survey sites. It is legitimate and not a scam. There are many benefits of joining this particular survey site.

Instructions

  1. Sign up for My Survey. To join my network, you may use the link listed below in the Resources section. Once you join, you will receive a few surveys for welcoming, enrollment, and to determine your preferences for future surveys.
  2. Unlike many paid online survey sites that make you take half the survey before telling you that you don’t qualify and you’re stuck with a measly sweepstakes entry for your time, My Survey always offers points, even if you don’t qualify. If you do qualify, which is fairly often for me, you will be offered additional points to continue the survey.
  3. Points are redeemable by check for $10 per 1000 points. My Survey sends pretty frequent paid surveys, so it shouldn’t take you too long to build up this amount. You are also welcome to save your points and redeem for larger rewards.
  4. One of the most fun things about My Survey is that once you’ve been enrolled for a little bit, they begin to send you free products to try. You also receive points for your opinions, and they mail free products to your home. In the past 2 months I’ve received lots of free products that are very useful in my household. Diapers, wipes, soap, deoderant, drinks. These companies are very interested in obtaining consumer opinions on their products so My Survey doesn’t hesitate to send out free products to interested consumers. All you do is answer questions once you’ve used the product for a specified amount of time.
  5. Another great thing is My Survey’s referral program. They have a friend referral program and a website affiliate program. Signup friends by sending them an email, or put a banner or text link on your website, blog, or other online presence. My Survey pays 150 points per referral. That’s $1.50! Seeing how this is actually one of the better paid online surveys companies on the web, you shouldn’t have a problem getting signups for your network.
  6. My Survey’s paid online surveys are quite easy to use, and not generally super long and boring. This fact, plus the constant free products, the bonus sweepstakes entries, and the great referral payouts is why My Survey is really in my top 3 for favorite paid online survey companies. Good luck and enjoy yourself. Take a little time each week to answer questions, make some money, and get free products for your family.

Tips & Warnings

  • fill out as many surveys as possible to confirm your interest in paid online surveys. The more surveys you fill out, usually the more that will be sent to you, which means the more money you will make.
  • always check reputable sources before signing up for paid online survey companies. Two links for legitimate paid survey directories are listed below for your convenience.
  • Don’t ever pay for a list of legitimate paid online surveys. There are plenty of paid online survey panels that allow you to make money without paying any fees for signup. Legitimate survey companies are free to join.

Affiliate Marketing Tips – How to Make Money Online – Start A Home Business

January 9th, 2010 No comments

This is a brief overview on how to start a home based online business.

Instructions

  1. Search online for businesses that are cost effective, proven, and backed by reputable companies. These may include affiliate programs, MLM, or Network Marketing programs. (My preference leans towards MLM or Network Marketing programs, I’ll explain why in one of the next steps).
  2. Define your budget for starting your home based business. Can you afford $100, $500, $1000, or more? Be realistic with your budget, and remember to include some funds for advertising. Put your budget together based on a 6 month plan minimum (it takes a few months to get most businesses off the ground).
  3. Once you’ve found a business opportunity that you feel is right for you, focus on it exclusively until you have turned it into a profitable venture. Give yourself ample time to evaluate whether it is working or not, and don’t give up easily. Online businesses can sometimes take a lot of tweaking to make successful.
  4. If you’re deciding between affiliate and MLM opportunities, keep in mind that most affiliate programs only pay you for the sales YOU make, NOT the sales of distributors that join under you. This means that you will have to continually sell your product(s) to earn an income.

MLM programs offer you the power of duplication to help build a residual, or walk away income. “Do the work once, get paid forever”. This is why my preference leans towards MLM opportunities. MLM/Network Marketing is also being endorsed now by people like Donald Trump, which of course adds tremendous credibility to the industry). Regardless of what you decide, make sure it feels right for you.

This is an example of a proven MLM opportunity:

Tips & Warnings

  • Be consistent
  • Don’t give up easily
  • Test ads with a small budget before committing large dollars.
  • Choose a company with a solid reputation
  • Stay away from cash gifting programs (most are illegal)
  • Stay away from Auto-Surf programs (also illegal)
  • Stay away from any program where the company does not publish their contact information on the corporate website.
